THE EMERGENCY SERVICES PLEDGE

Principles of the Emergency Services Pledge

We will endeavour in our business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Emergency Services Pledge, which are:

  • No member of the Emergency Services Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
  • In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

Demonstrating our Commitment

We recognises the value of Emergency Services Personnel, Volunteers, Emergency Service Leavers and Emergency Service Families and how they contribute to our business and Communities. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Emergency Services Pledge by:

  • Promoting the fact that we are an Emergency Services-friendly organisation;
  • Display the ESCT Employer Recognition Scheme Award logos on our website, and where appropriate on our marketing material and office collateral.
  • Encourage all business clients to actively support the principles of the Emergency Services Pledge.
  • Seek to support the employment of Emergency Service Leavers and working with Emergency Services Career Transition, in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for Service Leavers;
  • Striving to support the employment of Emergency Service spouses and partners;
  • Endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Emergency Service spouses and partners.
  • Seeking to support our employees who choose to either volunteer or conduct retained roles for the Emergency Services, including by accommodating their training where possible;
  • Offering support to our local Emergency Services cadet units.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Services Day; www.999day.org.uk
  • Develop relationships with our local Emergency Services Community, to better identify and understand its needs and ascertain how we can provide services which its members value.

We will publicise these commitments through our literature and/or on our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the Emergency Service Community and our customers on how we are doing.
